Important announcement regarding the 2020 FACE conference

Dear FACE Members and Colleagues

We write to you in our respective capacities as Professor Verity Brown, PVC (Impact and Innovation) University of East London and Professor John Storan, Chair of the Forum for Access and Continuing Education (FACE). It is with great disappointment that we have to inform you that due to the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the decision has been jointly taken to postpone this year’s  FACE conference: The place of widening participation and lifelong learning, which was to be hosted at the University of East London from the 1st to the 3rd of July.

On behalf of the FACE Executive Committee and the FACE conference team at the University of East London we regret not to be able to run the conference this year and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. The FACE conference, as many of you will know, is the premiere event in the field of access and widening participation in higher education and attracts delegates not just from all parts of the UK but also internationally. We would therefore like to thank all delegates and colleagues for their interest and support for the conference. The FACE conference team led by Tony Hudson and Agnieszka Spytkowska deserve special thanks for all their commitment and hard work in planning and developing the conference as far as they could.

The FACE Executive will be looking to reschedule the conference at a yet to be determined future date taking account of all official advice and guidance concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We will keep you updated through both the conference and FACE websites as well as the monthly FACE e-bulletin. The FACE conference team will be in touch with conference delegates directly to arrange refunds and related matters.

Thank you again for all your continued support and understanding and we look forward to seeing you at the next FACE conference.

Warm regards
